The IVP Concise Atlas of Bible History by Paul Lawrence
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
It was a pleasant surprise to receive this book in the mail. It was even more of a pleasure to peruse its pages.
In chronological fashion Paul Lawrence takes us through Biblical history. He does so by using maps, charts, and other data.
It is very nice to be able to have visuals on the same page as historical data. Instead of it being dry, suddenly it comes alive.
Not only does the reader encounter Biblical history, but there are accounts of relevant historical issues, too. I especially liked reading about the ancient libraries.
What I truly liked was the fact that IVP saw fit to make this book durable. The text block is sewn! Great job, IVP!
There are some places where I believe the author could have been more staunch in upholding inspiration and the miraculous. That is why I gave it a four star review instead of five.
Highly recommended.
I hope to post more thoughts on this book later.
