Repost: The Book That Influenced Me Most in 2010

Though I haven’t counted, my total number of books reviewed this year is quite high. I am blessed to be a fast reader, and that helps immensely.

Of all the books that I read this year, one stands out as especially influential.

What is that book, you ask?

The Meaning of The Pentateuch by John Sailhamer. It is an amazing book. The size can be intimidating, and it is not an easy read.

Why, then, do I consider this the book that has influenced me the most this year? Because it has helped me to see, not only the meaning of the Pentateuch, but it has helped me to recognize even more the unity of the Bible. (Click here to see Daniel Fuller’s The Unity of The Bible.)

I know of nothing that is more helpful that to recognize that the Bible is not only a book of books, but it is ONE book. It has a central theme and goal.

Sailhamer’s book helped me to see that even more clearly, because it helped me to see how the New Testament uses the Old Testament and upholds the supremacy of Christ Jesus our Lord.

My thanks to Intervarsity Press and John Sailhamer.
